Jennifer "Jenna" Taylor is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland and a national certified counselor (NCC), who has been in private practice since 2009. She provides therapy to older adolescents and adults through individual, couples, family, and group sessions. Jenna hails from New England and enjoys hiking, archery, riding motorcycles, traveling, reading, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and snuggling with her dogs.
Education and Counseling Philosophy
Jenna holds a master's of science degree in mental health counseling from Shippensburg University. She also has many hours of additional specialized training in treating acute and post traumatic stress disorders, pregnancy and postpartum depression and anxiety, and life issues such as grief and loss, fertility issues, and the many issues surrounding chronic or terminal illness for individuals and their families.
Jenna believes believes that it is often the therapeutic relationship, itself, that provides healing, and works to ensure a safe and comfortable space for the relationship to be established. She offers a wholistic approach in which every person is a unique individual and with a multitude of life factors that may affect how she or he experiences and thinks about life. Such factors may include family life, work, social environment, social support, past experiences, physical needs, spiritual beliefs, culture, and mental well-being. Jenna believes that no one knows her clients’ situations better than they, themselves, do, and encourages her clients to be her collaborative partners throughout the counseling process. She offers a variety of therapeutic methods, including narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, expressive therapies, dream work, and animal-assisted therapy, among others, to support the process of healing and growth of each individual client, as best suits that person's needs and goals.
Jenna has experience providing therapy for adolescents and adults in individual, couples, and group sessions. Her experience includes: providing mental health and/or situational crisis stabilization as well as ongoing therapy; teaching skills for coping with trauma, anxiety and depression, managing stress, improving communication; assisting with the process of grief and loss, and identity development; and providing information on healthy living.
